Yours is a 110, I think the 3500 is the gross weight of the defender and 7000 is the maximum combined train weight car and trailer all loaded

3499kg is what dvla have been classing 110's as for years but is not the GVW of a standard 110.
Check your plates on the vehicle. Most 110's are plated 3050kg apart from hicaps and some specials

he has the same as me, right down to the same year!,
just took a pic of my plate and don't see 7000kg anywhere but I do have the landy MAM on the top line (3050kg)
not sure about the 6550kg though?
is is the total MAM (including the landy) that a 110 (with pre 97 driver
) can tow= 3500kg towing limit?

I knew the rest just wasn't 100% sure about the 6550,
CURRENT LAW FOR B ONLY LICENCE TOWING
This applies to all those towing on a B licence no matter when they passed the test - the rules are the same for all
GVW MAM MTPLM all have the same meaning = the maximum legal weight something can be when fully loaded
A trailer of max 750 kg plated MAM may be towed on any B category vehicle (vehicle specs permitting)
A B category vehicle is one where the plated GVW is not over 3500 kg
That gives the max possibility of a total MAM of 4250 kg
There is ONE EXTRA RULE on top of all the usual towing rules for the towing of a trailer over 750 kg plated MAM on a B licence .....
..... the vehicle GVW added to the trailer plated MAM must not total more than 3500 kg
The rule where the plated MAM of the trailer must not exceed vehicle kerb weight was revoked in its entirety on 19/01/2013 but some Gov sites and others are still showing the old rules
Some Gov sites have also missed out the word MAM which is mis-leading viewers to think the 3500 refers to actual weight
Where a trailer does not have a plated MAM the total of all the tyre load ratings are taken as the MAM with a max limit of 3500 kg
I hope this has sorted it out for those interested
