Can I fix it the "Jeremy Clarkson" way?

As the photo blow shows there is a "gap" between the right rear window panel and the car body. It seems that there is still some "plastic" or whatever left that hold the water from rain (as far as I know) and I am upset that with time water will pass through these old plastic thingy and rust/damage the car interiors.... So I was wondering if I could fill-up this "gap" with black silicon (hence the title) or whatever you could recommend. Thanks!

Strip it out get one from breakers ??or if you can do a tidy job and your happy go for it get external silicon tho

I think a nice bead of silicone would seal it up nicely.

is there not a pice of finishing trim missing? cant remember mine ever looking like that?

Indeed, without going out into the cold I googled the area. There is definitely a piece of trim missing.

Nope the trim is not missing the gap is between the trim and the window itself. I can take a better picture tomorrow but the trim is definitively there. And I only have this problem on the right side of the car.

I will check with a local braker but if the silicon do the job then I will go this way.

The trim is not fitted properly.

As Wammers says - it's not fitted properly. You could seal it with a decent silicone - get one thats used for gutter sealing repairs; its black and designed for outdoor use - there is a brand called Thompsons - available from builders merchants - they also do one called 'Leak Fix' which is great stuff, sticks to anything and is fully weatherproof.

Thanks guys for all your tips, I will check for a 2nd hand one first and if I cannot find something I will use silicon

I quickly had a look this morning. This is just a "plastic" cover on top of the car body, so there is no worries of rust / water going inside of the car right? I try to see if I can remove it, on the left side I can play with the trim but on the right side it seems impossible, so I will check with my garage it they can fix this for cheap, otherwise silicon.
