Can fault codes be manualy flashed on Freelander TD4 mk1???
No surprise none of my code readers work!
NO abs & tc lights on dash on friends 2001 model (manual) he recently bought and MOT due very soon. Fitted replacement dash today and all lights working but 3-Amigos shining brightly!!! looks like someone has fudged the old dash - mmmm

What does manually flashed mean?

Back in the good ol days, engine management systems could often be interrogated by joe public with simple tools - no need for specific code readers.

For example with vauxhalls from the 90`s you can use a bit of wire to short out two pins on the diagnostic plug and the warning light on the dash will flash in a sequence to tell you the fault code stored, which you can look up online.

Bosch ABS systems could be flashed too.

No, I believe you need to wipe codes with a reader. Try fitting a new switch behind the brake pedal, it's the quickest and cheapest fix for the 3 Amigo's and usually works.
Good luck
Mike

Stupid question time, if the switch mentioned above is U/S. (knackered), does the brakelights still work, my 3 amigos are lit, HDC light does not operate when switch is selected, but goes straight out when ignition is switched on.

Yes the brake lights still work.:bounce:
Start by replacing the brake switch, if that doesn't work there are plenty of threads to show you what else to look at.

It's a multi contact switch. Often the only the ABS ECU brake status contact fails. I suspect this is due to it not carrying any actual current. The brake light contact does carry some current so lasts longer.
