can anyone please help

On sunday I had my clutch and arm changed by a mobile mechanic when he had done he said he couldn't bleed the clutch do to not having the right stuff and said he would come back and he never did.

I asked a guy from work to help and he came and got some pressure but said that my master cylinder needed changing so I got one from work that he tested and I fitted it my self. Now I am struggling to do it.

what is the best way to do it is there any tips someone can give.

also I have a disco 300 2.5 tdi

hose on bleed nipple into a bottle of fluid, keep pumping and topping up master til no bubbles come out of the hose into the bottle

there's no reason at all to bleed the system after a clutch change. unless the mechanic has fooked the Slave cylinder or popped a seal. Did he come recommended? or is he a cowboy?? Phone him back and demand he return to finish the job if not go to Trading standards.. And report him. Did he give you a VAT receipt??

Yes so it doesn't suck air back in.

What symptoms did you have that made you decide you needed a new clutch?

I got a great little break/clutch one man blead kit from halfords. Works a treat and was cheap. Might help if your on your own.

It's called an eezibleed, bloody handy bit of kit that works of the pressure from your spare wheel, bleeds brakes anorl.

I'm with Redhand. Your 'mechanic' needs a little visit, and some advice, and some financial reduction. SHARPISH.

If you leave bleed nipple open it will self bleed by gravity and there will be very little air left in

More like he put the clutch plate in the wrong way round.ring him off a different phone.

Right then thanks for all you comments my mate came and had a look and it turns out that the clutch arm is not fitted on the bearing so it was just flapping about. The guy who fitted it is coming first thing to sort it for me so I should be back on the road tomorrow

and make sure he sorts you out for your trouble, if he comes.....

Mobile mechanics are popping up everywhere nowadays.

efore handing over any cash, test what they have done. Only pay for parts up front on presentation of a bill for just said parts and if they say they will come back to finish, it is not unreasonable to pay them when they return.

I occasionally do work for friends on their cars and I always give them the price for the parts at cost and agree an amount for me to do the work. If it takes an hour or a couple of days to do, I dont expect them to pay me until they are happy with the work ive done.

After all they are doing me a favour by adding to my earnings just as much as I am doing them a favour by performing the work cheaper than a garage would.
