Hi everyone, I 'be had my series 2a for a couple of years. It was mot'ed with a new clutch by a mate but he couldn't get it running right. I just can't find anyone who knows how to properly set up the 2.25 petrol engine. The engine has a recon carb (solex) new leads plugs etc in the last year so it shouldn't be a problem with old parts. At the moment it won't run. I was hoping someone on here could help get it running. I live in onibury nr Ludlow Shropshire and AM happy to pay someone to do it. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated as she's sat on the drive for 4 months now.

I helped a mate get his running properly and all I can say is new parts do not mean they are ok!
I always find it to be points or condensor whenever mine is running rough and at £5 each it is worth a try.
I don't know if there is a set up proceedure for the carb, I followed one for my Morris Minor and it worked a treat for the carb.

Sorry to not be of more use.

John

As per last post points and condenser, I take it that you've set up your gap's on the plug's and point's, that your coil is working properly, and that you have fuel coming into the carb, and check your rotor arm and distributor cap. It's worth you spending a bit more time checking and re-checking and saving yourself a bit of money. Good luck I hope you do get it running pretty soon.;)
