Can a Porsche Cayenne Turbo fit in a Defender?

Looking for any advice from anyone on this subject as thinking of swapping my current engine for this.
The details are below if anyone has an idea if it is at all possible?

Is it just me, or is that a teeny weeny very space-efficient engine?

Nah, they're just very clever, these Germans.

But, yes, it will fit. The work involved is huge, and, expensive. But with access to a team of Porsche engineers, and Landrover engineers, it's doable.

At that size you could fit it in the cubby box no bother. Not sure why you would tho'

ha yes the measurements seem to have missed something in translation there, obviously did not read the rest of it when I copied it from the original webpage

You'll need an engine management system, the Porsche unit will be upset without the rest of the car. Megasquirt is one option .

You'll need a gearbox that will cope, that will fit to the Porsche unit.

And that can join to the transfer box, though a remote unit would work. So, a vw box, maybe?

The rest is fabrication. Stainless exhaust, engine mounts, air box, that sort of thing.

So, yes, it can be done.

Stick a turner rover V8 in, it's easier, will have the same effect, and you'll be able to drive it sooner.

Thankyou very much for the response, its much appreciated. I've got the 3.9 V8 in there already, sounds nice but very underpowered. I have been deciding whether to sell my Cayenne Turbo or figure out if I could make a new breed with it. This helps me to decide to just sell it

If the 3.9 is under powered then it might be easier upgrade to a 4.6, with some tuned heads. There are a large number of companies that make the V8 more powerful.

Or fit another type of V8, there are a few designed to be fitted as standard alone units. Ford have "crate" engines, I'm sure others do to

Of course you will ensure the rest of the vehicle is able to cope with the power, brakes, etc.

Size wise. Compare it to engines that have been fitted.

LS3, Cummins 6BT both fit but tight.

Anything is possible. However fitting a Porsche engine to the Defender is a major engineering undertaking. And there would frankly be lots of different ways to attempt it.

I’m assuming if you had the ability to do it yourself. You wouldn’t be asking such a basic question on if it is possible. Therefore the only option would be to pay people to do it.

So the question then becomes. How much money are you willing to spend on this?

If you want a faster Defender. There are many options. All likely to be cheaper and easier than using the Porsche engine.
