What about common rail diesels such as the BMW 3.0L TD6? I have been told that they cannot run on biofuel or veg oil. Is that right or wrong?

Ran a Toyota 50/50 svo/Derv for years, just put 30Lt derv in the tank and topped it up with 30Lt Rape oil. Ran smoother, quieter and more miles! Nippon lift pump is a copy of the Lucas square body type so everything OK. I never found the need to mix it externally, first few corners and excess fuel return system did that!

Old farmer fried told me years ago that he filtered it through a loaf of bread ! Said he dug a hole out of the top and just poured it through.
No idea if it works or if he had maybe been drinking the stuff.

I did get told this by an old "boater" but the idea of all the bread in the tank didnt convince me, i suppose tho it could be filterd lol...
In the interest of science il try it and let you no.;):D:)

My local Asian shop has fresh oil in 20 litre drums for £20.00 quid a pop, so saving about 40p per litre. I run my 300TDI on 50/50 Derv/Veg. Not noticed any difference in performance or economy.

Hi, my P38 2.5 DSE languishing in garage awaiting replacement FIP - garage have removed old pump which was looked at closely by refurb company - they think it has been damaged by using veg oil mix. Going to cost up to £800 with fitting on top if I can't find one from breaker's yard. Word of caution only...
