has anyone fitted a camshaft kit from island 4x4 to there v8,are there any good,the reason im asking is the tappets on my 4.6 are due a change and im going to do the cam aswell,along with some other bits and peices,so am i better buying genuine parts or aftermarket parts:confused:

island 4x4 parts are ok but give em a bell before you buy to make sure it's not britpart ****e. i've had loads o stuff off em and it's all been good:D
 
Hiya Andy....If I were changing the Camshaft & tappets, I would also replace the rocker shafts, Rockers and push rods at the same time...you will be surprised how much they wear when you strip them down and clean them. They are quite cheap to replace...just check the orientation of the shafts otherwise you will have oil starvation problems...full instructions on RAVE.
 
im looking into doing that john,along with a new rad,water pump,oil pump and thermostat,as im planning on trying to do the lot in one go,instead of a bit at a time,especially with the back end of the year coming in;)
 
most cam kits come as a kit ie cam,tappets,chain,sprockets and gaskets,im going for a piper cam not performance but mild road setup for pulling the wobblybox
