Afternoon all, been changing the water pump and cam belt today. Looking for some advice as to if this is looking how it should be.
The more I look at it the more unsure I get.

Thanks in advance
Sam

Should be the other way around also down centre it correctly. Exhaust right inlet in left and down pin between dots. Don't start it this way

Thanks for replying!
Can you explain it a little more, not sure I know what you mean.

Go to images.google.com look for rover k timing should show. There is a nice youtube video as well from an irish accent guy

You have the exhaust part on left as I can see in picture. That is where the inlet is!
The writing in the middle is the guide, where those two lines meet.
There is a mark on crankshaft sprocket as well, these 3 need to be properly aligned or best thing which can happen is losing power at some revs.

So .... we have the crank shaft sprocket at the bottom lined up with the two little dots and the spline lined up

Are you saying that the cam on the left in my picture is correct?

And are you saying the cam in the right needs turning? 180 degrees??

I moved the cam on the right and thought I got it back where it was originally to get the two marks lined up in the middle?

Sorry to keep asking!

I am saying that the camshafts are incorrect, exactly the other way around.
In the middle the lines that meet should be inlet in left and exhaust in right.
Please google and see youtube should take less time than asking around

All was going well until I knocked the cam lock out and one moved. Watched many videos just needed another opinion. Thanks for your help.
Does this look better?

Looks better to me but still not perfect. Also if you believe the sprockets were removed you might want to check these were fitted correctly. There is a pin that should go with the side it is example on exhaust pin goes on exhaust on inlet pin goes on inlet. Fail to have those aligned as well I learned might not start the car. Those pins are behind the bolts that hold the camshaft sprocket.
Also a good advise is to leave a little bit to the right off the left cam so when you tight the tensioner those lines will go exactly right. If you align them and then turn the tensioner will go off. Needs prediction and practice
