Hey up,

Just been round my disco ripping all the carpets up, leaky sunroof so had a wet through drivers footwell, I've fixed that now thinking of what to do with the floor.

There are no holes I've found yet, but I want to protect it.

I go diving quite a bit and am intending on getting muddy and want something to protect the inside when I end up dumping a load of salt water soggy kit in the back.

I've heard of people using some sort of rubberised paint on the floor? Any other suggestions or just the usual wire brush, acid etch, hammerite combo? Obviously I don't want to seal rot in there.

Also planning to get a flexible rubber boot liner type thing.

I used por15 following there three stage procedure then sprayed on upol rapor, it's a rubberised paint ment for lining truck and pickup truck load areas,

This should stop any rust for many years.

I found a comment on here from yonks ago re boot floors, tried it and it has worked for me.

I treated the rust (obviously) and then did 4 coats of hammerite. Once that had dried I bought two roles of, I think it's called, roof Flashing. Grey on top with really stick black stuff on the other side. I covered the floor as much as possible and really made sure I pressed it down firmly.
Even without the spongy boot liner it, it seemed to help deaden the sound a bit too.
I put my boot sponge back in once I had finished back in the summer. I happened to have a peek under the carpet last week and it's still dry as a bone.

Hope this helps.

Ps I sealed in my sunroofs too which will always help a bit as well.
