I know that diesels suffer from noises when cold, but i am a little concered as it is what i consider to be quite loud. the problem goes when the engine is warm. But it more noticable at around 2500rpm when starting from cold. It is more of a smotth rattle if you know what i mean, it might be just me being picky, but would like to know if anyone else is suffering from this.

thanks in advance.
Jose.

you should pinpoint where the rattle comes from, exhaust? engine? other? if its the exhaust its probably the heat shield, mine rattles on idle. if its from the engine i suppsoe there could be a few causes.

I have a "cold " flapping noise on mine which disappears when it warms up...always wondered what it could be?, it must be from the engine and only when pressing the loud pedal!
any ideas?

my dhse makes a slightly vibating type rattle when accelerating. particularly noticable when cold. it almost sounds like its coming from below the windscreen just by the air vents. anyone know what this might be?

My DSE makes a little rattle when accelerating and i found that it was the exhaust heat shield which had a corroded around one of the mounting bolts.I thought it was the exhaust banging on the suspension mounting.
