Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to stop my Rev counter from buzzing. It buzzies with the revs, more revs more Buzzing.

I want it to Buzz off!!:frusty:

Please help.

I don't know much about rev counters all can tell you is some a driven by the electrics and some are driven by cable, what is wrong is simply a process of elimination, if it's electrical I would guess maybe the unit is at fault, if it's cable again the unit bearing maybe

Does my 1997 Disc have a ECU? If I disconnected the rev counter would this effect anything else?

If I've got a choice between a rev counter not working or a constant buzzing I think I'll choose the former. :5bdriving:

If I remember rightly Classic Range Rovers and 200/300 series Discovery's use the 'W' terminal on the alternator for the RPM signal ...

so check the tightness of the wire at both ends, before you get too tee-ed off with the noise ...

300 rev counters are electrcal. Unplug it at the back of the alternator and see if the buzzing goes away to confirm it IS the rev counter. i dont think they are servicable units so would try another unit- there's loads about.
