Will be looking to buy a td5 disco 2 in the next month or so to replace my smoky rotton disco 1. I'm aware of checking for rear end chassis rot and cracked cylinder heads and of course the dreaded 3 amigoes but is there anything else i should check out when looking for one?
Thanks in advance.

The Disco 2 has a few more electrical toys than the D1. Check that they all work as expected, or if not it's an easy fix like changing a bulb.
If you get the opportunity, check for oil in the red plug on the engine ECU but that requires removing the ECU.
You'll get a good idea of what can create problems with the D2 if you do a search.
