I know this has probably been done to death but I have searched the forum to no avail....
my 110 defender 2004 is due an mot and I Know it’s going to fail on the seat belts, passenger side is totally done as it just does not come out without an age of trying and the drivers side has the usual wear where it’s been jammed in the door 500 times......( I know how to prevent this with the new belts) I’m looking for the cheapest way to replace both and could really do with a recommendation ASAP so that I can get them On there way. The truck is a work horse so NOT looking for anything fancy just practical to get it through the MOT. Thanks

Don't cheap out on belts, you don't want to be regretting it later.
I get that and take it on board, that’s why I was looking for recommendations from people who have brought them and are happy with the product, it’s always best to get an honest opinion on something like this, however my budget just does not stretch to original landrover belts it’s as simple as that and my truck is a work horse and not a nice looking shiny role model so I was looking for the compromise between tat (probability what I linked to) and all singing all dancing genuine parts.

I put seatbelts in my 2a years ago, the only point i can make is you need to make sure the reel is as straight as you can get it, the slightest angle and it kept locking no matter how slowly i tried to pull the belt out

If I was to fabricate something myself to hold the top bracket, as long as it worked, would it pass mot or would it have to be certified in some way.

Been there with my middle seat, no easy solution, people do do a belt that will go up and over the shoulder but they are dangerous, they can do serious damage in an accident. I just settled for a lap belt and drive easy.
