They had a serious lack of umph, and needed alot of welly to get going. Very lumpy under acceleration and sounded terrible.
All credit to subaru though, they sorted them very quickly after the initial feedback. I believe it took about 6 months before the refresh.
Yes I did drive one of the originals, and it was awful.

Cheers, I'd be having a decent test drive with any car. The one I'm looking at is a 2009 diesel Legacy estate. I need something that tows better than the wee Kia!

I was very upset after driving it, I thought all my prayers had been answered. A flat four diesel!!! I love flat fours, fantastic engines.
Unfortunately I couldn't talk the wife back round after that test drive. But we now have a huge v6 diesel Jeep, which is great.
But if the Freelander ever does die, I'll definitely have another look at one.

If I was to be moving away from LR in the next couple of year's, I'd be looking at the Vauxhall Antara. They are pretty good and amazing value for money at the moment.

I'm currently looking at purchasing a Freelander 2 with 150,000 on the clock . It is an SE one owner and with full main dealer service history. And to say it is in showroom condition - well it's not far off. There is no wear anywhere - seats, gearstick, steering wheel, carpets all look like a 40,000 mile vehicle. The bodywork looks nearly new and it still just about has that new car smell- just. Couldn't even find a stone chip ! Seriously, if the mileage had been clocked to 50,000 , I'd have believed it due to the condition. It's £5800 due to high mileage. However, even though I can see it's a minter, I'm still dubious to hand over the cash. If I don't make up my mind it'll be gone. That mileage is the only thing that puts me off. I have visions of driving away and it going bang.
But then I'm thinking , well if it's this immaculate with full service history, what am I worrying about. Also I seem to have no problem with a 100,000 mile F2 with only part SH and obvious wear.
What does everyone else think ?

Get underneath and check for rust!

Probably spent it's life going up and down motorways. Just do the normal checks and take the milage with a pinch of salt.
