Buying First Landy

Hi, new member here!
Need advice on buying a landy. Saw this one, just wandered if anyone had any thoughts on it?
I'd rather not have an auto, but what does anyone else think? It was converted at a specialist in Southampton, Brooklands or somewhere??

You may find that at higher revs it vibrates like a road drill - thats the reason that there were no factory Rangie or Disco 200tdi auto's - the 300tdi is better suited to auto as it's smoother.
I'd buy a manual g/box model if thats ultimately what you want - converting it will bring the final spend up anyway & involve grief.

Looks nice But get the vin no. check it out .You can find details elsewhere on this website where to do so . Ill bet its really a Bitsa . Recomend when buying your first land rover bring along a trained land rover mechanic or else get the Rac or AA to give it the once over You can always use their report to haggle on the price. A few pounds spent wisely before you buy could save hundreds in a short space of time. Nobody wants to buy a pig in a poke . Good luck in your quest and I hope you get what you want . to get a pro paint job and change gearbox would cost over a grand Is a 94 Land rover of unknown pedigree worth 7k I dont think so. There are better fish to be caught out there.

It's priced for those who need automatic - not as a convert back project.
Buy the vehicle you want - you'll spend enough time fixing it without having to undertake gearbox swaps & respraying from the outset.

I wasn't planning on swapping the gearbox back, i'd just get used to it being an auto. was joking about the colour, my current car is also red. i just liked the look of this one as it looks like the new style td5s without the price of one!

Bitsa means its made of bits of everything . ie see the backtub it came from a ragtop ropehooks are still on side Inside back seat frames look ex mod. Wall to wall carpet by Carpetright. I still strongly recommend you check out the Vin no. It will give you details of how it was originally built.

according to the dealer, the woman who owned it previously had it converted from a truck cab four years ago and at the same time had the alloys and auto installed.

can i expect better or worse fuel economy from it being an auto?

there may be an exception somewhere, but every automatic car ive ever driven gave worse mpg than the manual version.
