Buying advice

I'm in the market for a Defender 90 Station Wagon and was wondering if anyone had any advice, Pitfalls, etc...

I've found what aprears to be a decent model. Its an 04 Model on a 53 plate. 38,000 miles with full service history. Priced at £11,995. Its got a good spec and looks nice and clean on the photo's. Just wondered if theres any particular issues I should look out for as it will be my first Landy.

My TD5 90 CSW is on an 02 plate with 42k when I bought it earlier in the year. I've put in bold what seems to often be a problem.

The following has been sorted or needs sorting.
Shock aborbers worn out, leaking water through the seal between the windscreen frame and the bulkhead, door seals leaking at the top, rear door hinges worn so the damn thing rattles, rear transfer box oil seal leaking putting oil in the handbrake and on the drive, thermostat needs replacing as it takes forever to warm up (8 miles), there's a knock from the rear axle which I think is the ball joint at the top centre of the axle, rear seat belts all siezed with dirt & damp, drivers seat belt replaced, spigot bearing in crankshaft, fan belt and tensioner replaced, EGR valve replaced.

I hope that is of some use. I have no rust problems that I know of and when a couple of those above yet to be done, like the shocks & thermostat, are finished it will drive even better.

Take somone whos had landrovers befor with you, if possible. They would soon find out if its a cursed one.
