hi i am intrested in buying my first range rover, my boss drives one and i drive it from time to time when he cant be bothered to. i found a really nice one that i am looking to buy, all seems good apart from the milage. got everything i want from the car. its a 1995 range rover 2.5 DT. full leather, 16 inch alloys, loads of extras, but the milage is 170,000. car is in perfect order. not a scratch and like new on inside. how long are these engines made to last?????
if the engine went how much do you rekon to get another engine from scrappy???? also whats the tax on these now, think it was about £240 for a year last time i heard.

car is selling for £1900, im not bothered if its that quick, i just find the car really comfortable to drive. im just worried on how long the engine will last, found a few engines for about 500 like u say, but still a pain to have to do when i might not have to.

normally i wouldnt even think of getting a car with milage like this but the car is perfect inside and out. like new. is this a big risk????? how reliable are these engine, bmw aint they????? must be good

i wouldnt be worried about the mileage as much as things like the air suspension check all settings, check for leaking oil from the intercooler, lots of smoke when accelerating hard from a standstill, all the electrics are working like the windows, mirrors and heaters.

personally i have a 2.5DSE and i love it. have had lots of problems but still love it to death. best of luck if you purchase

is the dse better then???? if so in what way

have a look at the pics on my profile. everything is electric and cream leather with black piping. i also have the runner boards on the side. 18" Alloys, clear indicator lenses on the front and rear. i think thats the difference between them. but i stand to be corrected.

sounds just like the one im looking at, all cream leather, manual, its just spotless, gonna try go see it tomorrow, take for test drive, thanks for advice guys

The DT is the base spec, next is DSE then DHSE. You need to understand that it is an old car and you will have some issues with it, but if your not afraid of getting your hands dirty then most jobs that will need doing are well covered here and on other forums. Does the heating control have a digital read out or just 3 dials ?
