I'm thinking off buying a Disco Td5 to replace the Damned Freelander are there any things I should be looking out for when I go to look at them, are there any faults that are comman on them or will be as reliable as my old Tdi which I should neve have got rid of (Hindsight such a wonderful thing)

what am I supposed to be searching for then, I've been told today that they suffer from electrical faults and if some one has some things that they can suggest I look for I will listen to advice.:)

yeah I had to do a bit of welding on the old disco Tdi i.e new boot floor, and chassis crossmember in front of the diesel tank, but i didnt mind that as it was the only serious things that I had to do on it for the 5 years I had it, but this Damned Freelander its always something going wrong with it thats why I want to go back to a Disco

Look out for.
Leaky suspension airbags, rear suspension sinks overnight. Leaky sunroofs, abs error lights, head gaskets. Water loss due to rusty lower radiator pipe.

May be worth looking at lower spec models with less toys. Less to go wrong.

On the plus side they are much nicer to drive than a 300tdi especially if you get SLS but on the downside they need plugging in to clear fault codes.

Given my time again I would have stuck with the 300tdi disco and saved my money.

Like all this cars with the green patch, get one and live with the gadgets.

can`t be worse than a Freelander

Check for rusty rear chassis
If it has ace, check rams and pipes for leaks.
Check the abs tracktion control and hill decent lights all light up with ignition on then go out once started.
check for since of water ingress from sunroofs.
check for knocks and bangs on test drive, If it does it mite just be anti roll bar bushes or could be engine mounts (in from front) or watts bushes (from rear) bit harder, Not worth walking away from just knock em down.

And if you find a basic one but in good nick remember you can add stuff easy so mite still be worth thinking about, ie cruise control, heated front windscreen, I think sunroofs con also be convert from manual to eleectric.
