Hi guys,

Im new the forum so nice to 'meet' you all. i am thinking of probably buying a early/mid 90's defender of some sort, purely for towing horse trailers, not for everyday use. I just wanted to ask if there was anything in particular i should look out for when buying? also because i wont be doing very many miles per year would it be wort going for a lower milage petrol or a higher milage diesel, as these seem to be the two options at the moment! thanks :)

tdi's mileage don't matter so long as its been looked after (don't get the wool pulled over your eyes coz its got a shiny paint job)...,rotted chassis/bulkhead x-member,(RINGERS there is loads out there) if it don't feel right walk away be prepared to travel for the right fender ..... o an :welcome2:

If I were you I would offer tokens... beer tokens for example, to someone on here that is in your vicinity and would be prepared to make sure that you dont get stung if you find something that tickles your fancy

People need to put your location on this thing, so if someone in your area see something you are looking for they can PM you to help you. Alot of people on here will do that , but don't know where you are to bad? Example I know the location of approximately 150 defenders in the south west,I could probably find more if i chose to private and dealers. Give a price and area and i could give you leads.

you have a copy of auto trader I guess, rather than knowing the location of 150 dependers

there's a slight difference

I hold Sean in high regard, he has mellowed since moving to a new location and speaks his mind.

i'd bet there's less than 10 proper good ones out of that 150

theirs some fixer upers out there 3-4000 but why and have to spend another 3-4 to get it right why not the 7-10 and keep it nice or go 12-15 for real nice

snigger I have a 90 couple of plates and a bad earth- mot and cost me £400:p

yup you got everthing and done everthing:p:p I want a little comfort in my older age, and i'll have a play toy also mud, water, brush big deal, get in my way and i'll run your ass over snigger that

No I haven't got everything and done everything, Taunton is going to be a culture shock, land of the free snigger to land of the Politically correct.

Anyone who has spent time with me knows I am the first to admit mistakes- part of being clever is knowing what your dumb at:p

For me a PAYE job I'd punch someone within a week-but in a suitable environment I'm quite relaxed.
