Thursday night front prop let go and took out oil cooler pipe and oil filter housing where the pipe fits on. Towed home and now very oily and mashed up engine bay. Frantic weekend hunting down parts and ordered new prop shaft. That not appear till Tuesday. Got replacement oil pipes and filter housing off a disco. Found out those pipes are too short, thought it was other way about and defender pipes were shorter. Arse. So rebuild of 200tdi 90 starts this week all going well.
Sorry no pics for the vultures lol

Did the propshaft break with no warning? No squeaking, knocking or vibration? The U/J's usually give plenty of notice that they're past it.

no they had been thumping , though cv joint on left is thought to be main prob. had been underneath and tried prop for play. nothing moving. only had noise on full right lock.Been making noise all week so was own fault for using it according to the misses lol. So serves me right. In garage now getting axel stripped down , internals replaced, new prop, oil filter housing replaced, new bottom oil cooler feed pipe, possibly sump as had taken quite a hit. So yup any noises from underneath get that uj checked. Whole of uj gone along with front part of the prop.

Oh dear. That's an expensive lesson but sometimes they're the best ones. At least with a Landy it's not going to break the bank and none of it's a difficult fix.

The UJ just went on the rear prop on my 90. Considering this is my third Landrover I'm surprised I've never had one fail previously.

The noise sounded like the diff had died or something. I couldn't imagine driving it any distant and at speed.
