Bushfires in Oz...131 dead.

G'day,

Just thought I'd update Her Majesties homeland Land Rover clan of the 7 Feb 09 fires that have blitzed the state of Victoria. Still waiting to see on aulro forum if any of the Oz LR clan have been affected.

As of this eveing's news (9 Feb), 131 confirmed dead, 900+ houses wiped out and the fires are still burning....with some of these deliberately lit on a day where the temperatures were 45 deg plus with 60mph winds forecast !!!!

And bizarrely, head north 1000kms into Queensland and most of that state is flooded!

It's all over the news programmes over here too - we still take an interest in the "colonies".

point is its feckin cold ere and i think i would rather cold than cooked.the news states a murder hunt for arson.

yes a small fire can be fun. but why do some people take pleasure in destroying lives, familys and habitat i understand some species in the natural world have adapted to live with fire but thats natural bush fires not hundreds of acres. thousands of acres uugggh its people like that that make me blood boil. yes harmless fires are fun but. these arnt harmless fires. these destroy cultures and ways of life and civilisation.
