you might remember my other posts about blue smoke from 200 tdi, its using oil so its now obvious its burning oil... doing a few searches its probaly piston rings or worn bores?

at a 187000 miles, is it worth repairing? or just running as long as it will go

If you can pick up a good used 200 for a few hunded quid then it might be cheaper than rings and shells/ seals/ gaskets etc but yer pays yer money and takes yer choice

cheers, the engine could still run for a while yet?

Might be worth cleaning the breather out and giving the engine a good flush and new oil, wont do any harm anyway.
I have heard that using slightly thicker oil helps in the summer
