After this I cut the bumper ends to the correct angle that I wanted for the design (60*)

Quick vid.

Pics again, cut bumper ends at 60* and slider ends at 45*

After this a good bit of engineers blue to mark out the holes that need cutting the box section for the CDS jacking points to be put into

Let it dry and with an engineers compass scratch the circle into the blue

And now its ready to go onto the milling machine to use a 43mm bit to finish the hole off to a perfect circle allowing the tube to fit in nice and tight before I weld it up with the industrial bugger at the back :)

Cool. Who's letting you use their massive workshop! I'd be making loads of stuff!

Uni mate ;) over £2,000,000 worth of tools in there I reckon!

We've just gotten a new 5 axis laser cutter too at £350,000 to go with the CNC lathes and two 5 axis CNC milling machines!

Got a whole load of manual ones too, giant drills, 10k Lincoln Tig, ridiculous amounts of measuring equipment etc

Oh and grinding machines that work to a 10th of a millimetre! :D

Nice work, mate.

Cheers :)

Good luck, never seen marking blue(engineers blue is a different thing) used to mark out for oxy!!

haha my bad :p they're both blue anyway ;)

Idea was to mark the holes with the blue, so I could punch the circle and then chalk it so we could see where the rough hole was for cutting with the Oxy.

After this I'll mark the outers of the hole as a box for where I'll drop the 43mm milling blade onto, holes are currently around 39-41mm so will be dead easy for the milling machine to take out now (was faster than constantly changing blades)

Would have used the plasma but its out of commission :(

lookin good

nice work mate keep the pic's coming

Cheers guys :) will get more pics on monday, got three hours in which to mill and weld in a couple of the jacking points

:confused: all that tech and still no broom broom :confused:

Be careful as flame or laser cut edges knock out cutting edges.
Those painted spanners give me a flashback to being a student:eek:
ps do you mean the grinders work to 1 micron not a hundred:)

Finished with the flame now anyway but thanks for the warning

haha yeah painted but it does make them easy to spot when you put them down on a bench, and yeah :p typo, ridiculous tolerances on some of the newer machines!

Looks good mate :)

Cheers, making sliders for the series for the series in the next couple of weeks but they'll be slightly more suave ;)

Turned and tapped inserts for fixing to the original trim mounting points, turned top hat jacking points rather than CDS inserts, tubular side step pieces instead of box section steps (still to do on the current ones) and then if I get some time I may engrave them a little
