Mine was £163 brand new (look in my avatar). There are loads available for less money. Look at Craddocks or in adverts in LRO magazine.

I thought the A bars and bull bars were now ilegal in UK, unless they were fitted before May 2007. Any new vehicle after May 2007 will not have A bars or bull bars fitted. I may be wrong, but thats what I have been told, although you are allowed the freelander OE as the absorb the impact.

Think it's actually illegal to manufacture em after may 07 not 100% but I think you can still sell the ones that were made before then. Their is a thread on here with the link to the legislation. If you want to do a search for it. or this is the link to the actual EU directive

As far as the legislation goes, it is illegal to manufacture, or make available for sale any bar or Frontal Protection system as they are now called, which does not meet the requirements of 2005/66/EC and carry an aproval number and be supplied with a certificate of conformity.
If your car was registered after may 25th 2007, you can only fit a compliant FPS. If it was registered before may 25th 2007 you can fit anything as long as the person selling it to you had it before may 25th i.e. the likes of Formula 4 can sell off thier old stock.
There are a few manufacturers that can make a bar which is approved but you have to do tests like these
Land Rover Freelander 2004 - 2006 - EC Approved Frontal Protection Systems
these ones are made by the manufacturer of the origional Freelander V6 bars and the Defender and Disco bars sorry FPS's.
