what plans have you got for yer old bulkhead ??

i still have a few bits to pull off it like the wing mounts. then i was going to stick it out the front, scrap metal disappears in seconds round here, so much so i have to put bits in the garage and close the door if i pop in for a minute.

you are welcome to it if you want it.

getting it to you may be difficult i'm down in surrey

Hold your horses! I'm sure someone would be happy to collect as these are sought after in all conditions.

Johnny C will be working through he night now to get his engine rebuilt so he can collect!
If Dr Evils also shows interest we could see an interesting 'engine rebuild race' and 'dash darn sarf to Richmond'. :)

If yer hadn't seen my landrover is now in more pieces as I'm chopping up and re riveting the rear tub now so it becomes a king cab :p will have the gearbox crossmember welded in next weekend though if all goes well! So possible start attempt then or easter hols

it will more than likely have to be with landyzone courrier service due to me not having an overdrive and at the moment time nor the money to do anything with the series

and with the family crisis ive gotten meself involved in may take some weeks to settle down

well it will probably be at least a week before i am finished with it, more than happy to keep it in the garage for a while to see if something can be arranged

i can confirm it is much harder to get the bulkhead bolts out again if you put them in the wrong way round, might be ok if you have it up on a ramp though.

Anyway, the fan on mine was not connected - why it never worked since i had the car i suppose - casing is very rusty, i attached the leads directly (trying both ways) to the battery and got a bit of a spark one way round. The fan itself doesn't turn at all, i guess that means it is buggered?

which may expalin why it wasn't connected in the first palce.

Got the wiring back in this morning despite the cold.

Managed to feed it thru the hole, instruments were too big to get thru so i fed them thru the vent or the hole for the steering column then removed one wire at a time passed it thru the wiring hole and back on to the instrument :)

bit fiddley but overall easier for me than breaking the wiring in the engine bay, labelling it and connecting it back up.

If i can get the column back in might be able to get the vehicle moveable.

Managed to get all the pedals back in without having to disconnect any pipes too, proof will be if it all works when it starts.

well it is finally nearly back together, taken two and a half years to do what someone competent could have done in two and a half days. Should be back together ready for an mot next week.

pic of the engine bay, not quite finished, that conduit stuff makes a neat job of the wiring, much better than wrapping that sodding tape round it all.

dash is back on too, well almost :D

I just got some tube, the bit in the passenger footwell isn't attached to anything its just lying in state :D. I have run the drivers side right into the matrix bit, the hope is it gets more air, as it is furthest from the blower and the bit the air goes through isn't exactly hermetically sealed I wanted the drivers side to get as much as it could, might do the same with the passenger side too.

heater is working now and the matrix is getting hot so that is a first since I have owned the car it hasn't worked.

got the blower going, it was only connected to one side of the fuse box!

then it turned out the heater valve was just clogged solid so no hot water reached the matrix, gave it a good scrape out with a wire coat hanger. ought to flush out the rest of the system but leaving that for now, if it fails the emissions I may have to change the timing chain so I can flush then.

the old tube wasn't connected to the spreader on the drivers side either so it wouldn't have worked anyway and the spreader on the passenger side wasn't in the slit.

so all heating is now working. Might still stick a smiths flattie in the tub as a support heater later.

well it has been stops and starts and I do work rather glacially :D surprising how long seemingly small jobs take, I was messing about with one of the side lights the other day, came back in and over an hour had passed.

got rid of another historical problem today, the stream of water running down into the drivers side footwell when it rained. The bolt that passes through the windscreen that then attaches to the bulkhead hadn't been properly tightened by a po, with the water ingress it was rusted solid. Eventually freed it with lots of penetrating oil and a few expletives. Good greasing with copper lube and its tightened all the way up so no more rivers.

attached pic of side view, plan is to paint it navy or sand once mot'd, don't want to go to that trouble or spend money on paint if I have to buy more bits. Once its on the road I can paint at leisure, so probably in another couple of years.
