Bulkhead outrigger

Have some holes in my outrigger which I was going to patch but when I had a dig around to find some good metal to weld to the whole thing started crumbling away and it now looks like it is beyond repair. New outrigger is only £30 from paddocks but how easy is it to replace these, and has anyone done it?
This is quite a big piece of metal and it looks to be beyond the capabilities of my mig welder. It also looks to be difficult to get to without removing the bulkhead. Whats the score?

If you take the drivers side floor pan out you can get good access at the back/top of the outrigger, you can also get access from the engine bay down to the front, and from the wheel arch.

A loom runs down this side of the chassis so you need to pull it through the chassis with a good piece of wire so you can pull it back. Or you could run a hose through the chassis while your welding, this is how I put new outriggers on my old chassis.

It does look quite daunting but its not that bad at all, if you can support the bulkhead on a jack then cut/grind the old one out, you can then bolt the new outrigger onto the bulkhead and knock it about until it sits in place, at this point tack weld it, then raise your bulkhead about 1/32, this will ensure that when the bulkhead is then dropped it will be supported by the outrigger and not the other way around.

Sounds encouraging, The floor pan is rotten anyway and I have a new wing to swap out so with both of these removed it should be possible access all the way round, though it will be a fckn lot of grinding to get the old one off me thinks. Just a bit concerned that me Clarke 105 welder aint gonna be man enough for the job. Spose on full power and the lights flickerin indoors it'll probbly just pull through
