Hello all I'm thinking of goin to buildwas pay and play day on the 6th jan. it's my first pay and play in my disco. Have done a bit of offloading a few years ago in friends vehicles so not a total newbie.
Just wanting to go and have a little play around to test everything works as it should, don't want to break any records or climb any mountains.

How do u think ill get on its a d1 v8 235/70/16 insa turbo dakars, diff guards, tow bar and front valance removed and hopefully a steering guard if I can find one by Sunday.

Does anyone have any experience at buildwas?
Anything anyone can recommend?

It'll prob be the same as everywhere....very moist lol. In my opinion its ok but can get a bit boring after a few times of going, i havent been in a while so may pop down myself. Your disco should be fine really, may be remove the tow bar though ?!?

Yeh remove the towbar if you don't need it. It'll act like a plough. I use mine so have to leave it on and make do.

Get some decent recovery points front and rear too. You'll need them if the weather stays like this. Lol.

Thanks for the advice removing the tow bar is today's first job. As for recovery points iv got some jate rings to go on the back, but nothing on the front as yet, what's the best option for the front??

Isnt there already recovery points in place on a disco 1? If so it could be an idea to attach a shackle and recovery strop to it so if you do get very stuck you already have something attached ? Im about to replace my rear diff ready for sunday...I just hope it stays dry today!

Jate rings or a steering guard with recovery eyes built in.

If using a jate ring remove the lashing eyes (if still there) and use same holes to fit the jate rings to. don't overtighten As you want the jatering to be able to move.

Yeah there is some pear shaped eye fitted on the tow bar assembly mounting bolts I was goin to take them off anyway. As for jate rings on the front how can I attach one on the offside ?? As where is seams to go there is part of the steering set up attached?

No I only ever fit one Passenger side.

That'll do for me then. Looks like I should shake this hang over off a bit and go and get on with a few bits on the disco.

I haven't been to buildwas since April but be prepared to spend most the day stuck in the clay, when I went it was bad and we hadn't had a lot of rain earlier on in the year. Its not to bad a place to go but as been said before it can get a touch boring after a few times round but that's just my opinion bout it

Well all set ill probably be the one stuck in a green disco v8 so try not to laugh to much on the way past.

All part of the fun in my book. Although saying that I don't have a winch yet so this could be interesting.

I'll be stuck next to ya mate. Don't worry. :)

Only go it stuck once an got winched out by a friendly defender. Then 30 seconds later I had to pull I'm out of a bog lol. Had a fantastic time o be honest I'm pleasantly happy with the capability of the disco it has surprised me. However thought it would be a lot dirtier.
