broken timing belt..Need to rebuild engine..what do i need??

Timing belt snapped!! ..Was thinking about rebuilding engine as i have a friend who has the time. I was wondering exactly what parts i would require and the best/cheapest source.I am gutted!!

what engine is it, if its a 200tdi then sometimes you can get away with not a lot of damage

What do the full works consist off ..I am trying to price a rebuild as opposed to buying a whole new engine.

it might be cheaper getting a second hand engine, i know a fully recon unit is around 1300-1500 quid. it depends on how much work you want to do.
