Hi all,

I over tightened the ignition switch cable connection on my FL2 SD4 Auto starter motor and it split the plastic holding the bolt. It doesn’t seem like the bolt within the plastic was sheared off, it looks like it was just held by the plastic surround - I might be wrong. Can this be fixed or the whole starter motor needs replacing? Thanks

The bolt snaps off.
I made up a replacement, when mine broke, but I am a hobby machinist, so have access a lathe, a brass bolt (replaced the steel bolt) and nylon used to make a new insulator for the bolt.

The same happened to mine when i was doing the belts, and had to have it repaired, cost me about £45 at the time 2017, a short while after i dropped on a second hand starter motor for the same price, refurbished it with new contacts and plunger, been sitting in the shed ever since, you can pick them up on the bay'
