There is a recessed rectangle on the the rear of the fob where a label is fixed denoting the key number.

If the sticker hasn't fallen off. I don't know of any other way to tell the fobs apart except from superlocking the car then seeing which memery position the seat returns to, mem 1 or mem 2 to the respective fey fob. Keys 1 and 2 would have been supplied from new, keys 3 and 4 won't set a seat position. I think the diagnostics will show which key has been used last?

But they don't all have memory seats:)

There is talk that each fob number is a slightly different shade of black/grey/charcoal etc.I cant tell the difference between my key 1 and 2.So it may well be just an old wifes tale.:blabla:

Hi Alan - can you explain to me what the 'superlocking' procedure is please ? Thanks

This is interesting - I only have one fob for the old RR and need to get another. Presumably, if I set the seat memory to wildly different settings, then unlocked the car using my fob, the seat would return to position 1 or 2 and I would be able to determine which fob I had.

So, if I have fob 1, can I program another fob as fob 2?

You can't program another FOB but you can order a FOB 2 or 3.

You lock the car in the normal way then press the lock button a second time. It dead locks all the doors so when your FOB fails there is no way to open the doors short of destroying part of the lock mechanism. Superlocking is, as far as I'm concerned, to be avoided at all times.

When new the fobs are slightly different shades depending on which number they are, over time (consider even the youngest P38's are nearly 10 years old now) the sun/environment has bleached/degraded the colours to be more uniform....

But they are different...

Not exactly true according to the handbook, just means you cannot open from inside (Smashed window wont work) but EKA can still be used in emergency:)
