Broken ignition key

how does one go about getting new ignition key? mine snapped, its got half in the barrel and half on the key, it still works as the two marry up in barrel, good job it didn,t snap in door! would av been fooked! so its still useable wiv keyfob alarm ( cl) but can,t lock door manually, would barrel door locks everything e changed? think i,m covered on insurance for ignition damage, can u get replacement keys? think made by valeo,

hi what year is your disco if its a td5 you can order a new ignition from landrover to your chassis no and a new key

Call and ask a locksmith if he can make a key, if you bring in the door lock and a blank key. They have done it for me.

I had a similar problem. I had to take the whole ignition barrel off the car & send it to an automotive locksmith, as we have no local ones here in the Highlands.
Kept the car running by taping the broken keyfob to the reciever coil & starting with a screwdriver. Don't forget to tape closed the immobiliser micro-switch.
Got a new key blank off eBay, if you put the broken bit in a vice & give the fob a sharp tug it will come apart. Just knock the roll-pin out of the plastic & retain both plastic & rollpin for new key blank.
Doing it this way there is no need to re-program anything - you're using your original fob.
