Hi all

I have a disco, 200 TDI, 1994 reg.

My heater hasn't worked since I got it. Someone has taken the dashboard fully off, cleaned it off, reassembled the old unit. It was working but we drove 20 minutes and it has stopped working.

I think it needs a new motor completely. Seen loads on ebay for around £15.

Nephew says that a TDI 300, 1995 reg one will work.

Not sure quite what direction to go.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Steve

300 shape motor is completely different to 200.

300 motor is changeable from under the dash, 200 requires the whole dash to be removed and the heater box opened up.

Often the heater box is destroyed when try to open up, but the motors are available separate and some people have managed it.

It's a bitch of a job really but there's no other way to do it.

My heater stopped working for a few months, I found a sweet spot on the heater box where I could **** it with a hammer and it would reluctantly start working after enough massaging, but it now works all the time again.

The sweet spot was the area inside the drivers side footwell nozzle, or anywhere very bear to that. Might be worth a try!

Btw always try it on full speed just in case your heater resistor has gone funny...
