She was answering the questions as best she could for someone who knows nothing... you lot started ripping her about the RAC man!

What?
He was an arsehole, who gave her a load of b0llocks!
If she can’t tell us if the battery warning light is on or off, then she shouldn’t own a car!
I'm sure he was a complete arsehole... that was never in question. She had said that there wasn't any lights on.
All she asked was, given the 'issues' she had could it possibly be the alternator at fault.

She said “alternator or something else”. The answer would have been “yes”.
If there were no lights on then she has a much bigger problem!
It could have been lots of things, but without a warning light, it could just be a bulb. Without more details it was impossible to be more precise.
It could be alternator, battery, wiring, bulb. Almost anything. Would it have been helpful to have said “possibly”?
I still don’t know why she hadn’t asked the peeps that changed the alternator before coming on here.

And I totally agree!
Being an idiotic woman myself I would have asked similar on here simply because I don't trust most garages, particularly with fault finding and I'd have assumed that a load of 'regular' landy owners (on LZ) would have more of a clue than most ****s that work as mechanics.
If it had been the case that one of you had said 'yes it is likely to be the alternator' she could have gone to the garage forarmed and potentially not been ripped off by some wannabe mechanic trying to 'fault find'... clearly I appreciate that you can't diagnose given what she told you but may have been a little more helpful if peeps had just said that rather than ripping at her... most newbies ain't gonna get the LZ humour and tongue in cheek comments... I'm used to you lot now! ;)

Maybe she had lost faith in the people who had done the repair and thought she might get an insight on here. Sometime a response isn't very novice friendly, they don't understand what to us are simple mechanical terms so they get frustrated.

Col
Exactly that. We don't have a clue, be like us wimmins explaining makeup tips to you lot... you wouldnt know your conture brush from your eye shadow brush! ;)

dont knock yoself. yo sex doesnt come into it. some peeps are interested in mechanical working and some want to just drive. but you dont go onto a forum for brain surgeons and say " I have a headache, could it be a tumour?" do you? yes it could be, but it could just be an allergy. We could not give a meaningful answer based on her info. You may have noticed that the peep she said was rude, was also a wimmins .
surprisingly, I was trying to be helpful.

Im not knocking myself... i know us wimmins are better than you men, we just have the dignity to allow ypu to believe the opposite is true ;)
Your right and as a woman I have an interest in mechanics and many other things considered by most as 'male' intrests. Whilst I know i am more than capable and have an intrest I also have no experience in taking cars apart and I feel to do so without someone more experienced with me would be foolish.
I love to learn and want to be able to do everything on my own but as a 'hands on person' there's no point in me getting a haynes manual and trying to wing it... I don't/can't learn from a text book (and the sometimes questionable black and white photos in haynes). Nor can I afford to balls it up!
But going back to your point... if you was thick enough to go to a brain surgeon with a headache, he/she would have some decorum just to say 'sorry but without more information we can't give you a diagnosis'.
With regard to the 'rudeness' comment, again that just boils down to newbies not understanding the tongue in cheek/ LZ humour/comments.

Don't worry always confused, theres some great people on here but there 's always some self opinionated prats as wellWhen i was getting my head round this site, i was logging on to one person in particular without realising it and got a rather uneccessary rebuff. Buff thats todays society
