Hi Folks,
I've got another gremlin in my 2000 Disco II and was wondering if it's normal.

The reservoir holding the power steering and Ace fluid is bubbling/broiling when its above 25 Celsius. Is this normal?

I have lost the AC, and for some reason half the engine coolant was missing.
I had the Engine Coolant flushed and replaced last year, and traced a slow leak to a pressure clamp that was replaced by a screw clamp. (Not a head gasket Failure)

The power steering fluid was replaced but not the Ace fluid. The one and only LR dealer would not disclose how to flush the Ace fluid to my mechanic so it was left alone.

Any pointers would help.
Thanks
Jimmy

Not sure about the coolant, but your loss of refrigeration sounds like a lot of the refrigerant has leaked away. Even if you only have a small amount of fluid left in the system you will hear and see it in the little tank with the glass viewing window even though you do not have enough for the system to pump round properly. A note of caution; if you do not exercise the air con regularly the seals in the pump will harden and allow the refrigerant to escape. It is vital that the system is run, with the compressor engaged at least once a week even in the middle of winter. (Always assuming the outside temp is above about 4 Degrees C). Unless your mechanic has a re-gassing machine you will not be able to 'flush' the system. You will know if it has been re-gassed at some time in the past if the fluid is bright green. This is a florescent dye that is put in so any leaks can be detected easily by eye or if more difficult then using a UV light.

Suggest have the system re-gassed (it's done by weight of refrigerant) and check for leaks. I once had a stone go through the condenser and had a lovely green stain all down the car.

If there is no fluid in the system. switch the car to economy mode, this will protect the very expensive pump.

Hope this is of help.
