Britparts that have lasted

P38 drag link bar and tie rod bar, including ball joints .mirror glass, plastic mirror retainers.
1 year later and at that price I could buy them 3 times over compared to OEM

HD, panhar and Steering bars with ball-joints still holding on fine after 9 months and 20000 miles. I've bent the steering bar a couple of times though alright but that was just driving like a prick and with offset 33x12.5s, I can't really blame them for bending. Think the pan-hard bushes are starting to fail now though

Filters have lasted fine each time upto 5000 miles

Silicone hoses seem fine with around 20K on them now too

Wheel bearings are lasting around 5-10K but again, I don't really expect too much of them with the wheels I'm running and regularly dunking them in water up over the axles. The bearing kits are very cheap anyway so don't really mind changing them as they are relatively quick to do as well.

De-cat pipes on my 110 and Dads Disco are still letting smoke through it and hasn't broken off

Passenger side mirror that I can still see stuff behind me with after 6 months and hasn't fell off
Although, the position of the arm is crap as it's that bit slightly further forward compared to the OE one so it kinda gets half hidden by the A-pillar and wind-deflector

Think that's about it on stuff I've tried on the 110 really.

I've fitted stuff from Terrafirma that was a terrible fit when I haven't really had anything from britpart that needed messing with before it fitted



I've used alot of stuff fro birtpart in building my trayback though as it only means a day cut short if something does fail and it just makes the whole build far cheaper even when using everything new.

If the majority of stuff lasts on that, I don't think I will really be able to complain about their quality.

I got another Britpart cardboard box this morning when I got some bits for this weekend's suspension activities. It says 'Britpart: Be Part of It' which seems a little sinister to me. I'm not sure I want to.

The pattern parts manufacturing companies are slowly fading I would be glad for anything that keeps me away from a rip off dealer.
Think of it like that

I think they are buying better quality than they used to but the bad reputation they have will be hard to shake off I fancy

I have had rubbish parts, memorably swivel seals that didn't fit well and leaked but that's not what this thread is about.

There must be many parts from Britpart that are cheap and reliable, it's just knowing which they are.

Only birtpart items iv bought are the yellow 2" springs and a steering damper. Not had a problem with them.
My 300tdi had just had a new clutch when I got it 2 years ago britpart one. Still going strong

I still avoid buy britpart for my own landys due to all the bad reviews, but have fit alot of britpart parts to costumes landys (I don't supply parts, they bring what they want fitted).

My one last about 12 months then packed up.

I fitted a Brit part polybush set throughout the Landy three years ago and they are still in good shape.
BP silencer lasted 12 months before it had to be replaced.
Steering ball joints, A frame ball joint and wheel bearings all doing well after approx thirty thousand miles.

Just bought a load of Britpart bushes for panhard rod, radius arms and trailing arms, all Britpart, but all with suffix G .. They look like they'll do the job properly .. we'll see. Should make the steering a lot better, considering it'll also have new shocks, and bushes, and all new ball joints too ..

... and way less expensive than polybushes which are even more of an unknown quantity.

Britpart front outrigger fitted to 90 today, excellent fit and has lasted a few hours at least.

Not bad quality actually, and well made

My Britpart water pump is still going strong after four years, my rear crank oil seal is holding up after a few months but have hopes for it.

Britpart callipers still going strong on my old disco

Probably more bad parts than normal but people don't shout about it when they get a good part cheap

To be fair, anything I've got has been ok too. Wheel bearings lasted about two weeks at the most and they siezed up if you tried to adjust them but probably expecting too much from them with the big wheels and tyres, low offset and my kind of driving. The Timken ones are lasting much better but still not fit and forget reliable.


Other britparts I've got were all fine really though. worse parts were wing mirrors to be honest where I had to re-tap the holes that were too small for the mounting screws in the hinges.


I think it really depends on where you get the stuff from too though. A friend that's an LR indy supplies britpart stuff but alot of the stuff I get from him is a genuine part while others are typical britpart so I reckon you need to know what parts will last and what parts you have to get the genuine quality stuff.

Shirley you cant go wrong with an exhaust from britpart

They can't even get wing mirrors right. Bought two new wing mirrors a while ago, fitted with the correct bolts and upon tightening the thread totally stripped from the mirror. Cheap crap. Paddocks had the cheek to accuse me of using the wrong bolts when I phoned and complained

Fitted a Britpart decat to my dads Disco 2 and the flexi broke in a few months but was replaced no problem. The one on my Defender has been ok with a year however. Think the reason why my dads one bust was the center box came off its mountings so can't really blame the flexi for not taking the strain with half the exhaust wiggling around

Yep, same problem I had when I got the larger mirrors as new arms. Holes were too small so I re threaded then to suit. However to be fair, a previous standard one I got was perfect.
