Hi all
Recived my wheel bearing kit today and I have noticed that one of the 2 large nuts has a flange on it, cant say that I noticed that on the ones I am replacing.
Is it some sort of spacer or does it replace the spacer washer thats fitted on the old bearings.

Or am I completely missing something ?
Regards all
Ray.

Who was the member who fitted a BP bearing and it only managed a few miles before spectacle failure?

Was it Langers?

I hope for your sake it lasts :(

Ive got britpart on mine done several thousand miles so far!
Went though a spate of changing them as the water and mud got past the seals and screwed them up, decent quality and the cheapo britpart ones.

In those kind of conditions it doesnt matter if they are timken, britpart or hong kong fooeys finest they will die, i know this as at one point due to an over-eagerness to play in wet sticky sand based mud pits i was changing mine almost every few weeks or at the very most once a month. I now run allmakes non genuine (read cheap) bearings all round and simply look after them a bit more and stay out of the really wet stuff unless i have to get in there and they are lasting a lot longer.

like all other parts of the disco if i give them a bit of love and preventative maintenance they last well, if i had a road car i might think about timken but as an off roader that needs constant maintenance then cheap works

I have Brit Part Bearings all round on my Defender and they have lasted. But from my experience from other BP parts and for the sake of only a few pound extra I would go the Timken route. I will get a couple just incase.

I've got Timken ones as I was advised to get them as I use wheel spacers and that's what the bloke at Paddocks recommended. I think that they were only a couple of quid more than Britpart ones.
