Britpart Crap (Again)

So. Once again I'm ****ed by ****epart. What must be the sixth light switch which has only been fitted for about 10 months has crapped out. As usual the cheap and nasty internal mechanism has broken. Do not buy this cheapo version. There's a more expensive Lucas original part that costs double the price.
Britpart do not seem to have proper quality control over their catalogue. Same problems as posted on here with radiators.How come they have such a hold on landy parts. Are they what used to be Unipart? Do they supply for other makes? If they are licenced it should be removed. It's just a situation of bad quality manufacturing and lack of controls. No respect for the customer.
 
I think biggeeeee is right - the only way to solve quality control issues with these numpties is to send it back. Make a fuss. Make it uneconomically feasible for them to sell ****.
 
I feel your pain but I'm afraid that I have no sympathy. There are enough comments and instances of people complaining about Sh*tpart stuff that perhaps you should have thought about not buying their stuff? It's all very well sending it back and making a fuss but getting a refund but when 90% of all the other failures end up in our bins it isn't going to make them take any notice. You can shout about 'not fit for purpose' and all and that's all very well but they won't stop making such carp until either every failed part is returned and refunded or we stop buying it.

The biggest issue is that their price point makes you think it's cheap enough to give it a go. When their products are half the price or cheaper than genuine it does make you want to buy it but once you've fitted it and it fails then it's no longer a bargain. I know there are plenty of people who've bought something and it hasn't failed but it's a lottery that I'm not prepared to take part in. I'd rather buy a second hand part from a breakers than buy their stuff.

Rant over. I'm feeling the Christmas blues.
 
I hear what you say. I'm going to start sending their crap back. Including the track rod end that didn't have enough thread to fit properly. I'm also going to boycott them from now on.
 
I must be the luckiest person in the world. I usually try not to buy britpart, but if needs must as I use the landy every day and sometimes have to fix it there and then, and I that case I will use them.

However in nearly 30k miles I've not had any single britpart ive had to fit fail on me.

You do realise Britpart sometimes supply genuine in a Blue box?
 
The supply of blue boxes seems to be fulled by tight fisted Green Oval owners.
We need to get away from trying to mend on the cheap, biggest majority of new parts
advertised on Ebay seem to be BP cheapest.
I've actually started trying to buy Genuine when I can as the quality is miles better and
backed up by guarantees
 
I'm not talking about their 'G' stuff, or whatever it is and I don't think people are generally complaining about their 'G' parts. It's the £3 UJ, their £5 wheel bearing, their £40 cylinder head etc bought by the consumer who thinks they're getting a bargain as parts are so cheap for Land Rovers.

Also, it's the lack of consistency coming from the resellers. Sometimes you buy an item expecting it to be genuine or another make and a blue box with a metal part made of plastic that arrives. Equally you pay for a cheap part to just get you going and a genuine or quality make part arrives. There just isn't any consistency.

But it still comes back to the price. Make it cheap enough and people will take a chance. Increase the price and people probably wouldn't buy it and if they did and it failed then it would probably get sent back. Say what you like about Sh*tpart but you have to admire their business model, even if it is a little unethical.

Are you talking about Ebay here?
Every reputable source I use always gives a choice of manufacturer.
I always know the supplier prior to the part being delivered
 
If you can afford and want the quality buy genuine, this is an instance where only the best will do.
If your skint but want a short term fix buy cheap. How simple can it be.
I've bought Britpart and found that 50/60% is ok and fit for purpose. I've never had a problem when bought genuine.
Their window regulators are spot on, never had an issue as long as you add plenty of grease before assembly.
 
I always avoid Britpart having had my fair share of bad experiences.

However, I sincerely doubt that there would still be the number of Series Land Rovers on the road today if it wasn't for the availability of cheap pattern parts. Now Series Land Rovers are growing in value, similarly, many of the owners possibly feel that can justify spending more to fix them up with better quality, more expensive parts. When they were all mostly worth less than £500, it's much hard to justify paying for genuine or expensive parts, especially if repairing yourself.
