Lovely sunny morning today. So, planned a wee bit tinkering to fit new light and wiper switches. FFS two hours and much swearing later I managed to get the feckin wiper switch mounted in the dash. The replacement switch comes with a backing nut that butts up against the back of the dashboard. Problem was it's too thick and doesn't leave enough thread to get the locking nut screwed on. It's just ****e manufacturing and assembly. Luckily used the old one eventually. Bloody awkward trying to screw the nut on and hold the switch into the dashboard at the same time. Put me in a right bad mood and spoilt the morning. As for the crap light switches the busted one only lasted 6 months. They are so rubbish I keep a spare in the landy at all times. It's a legacy of how bad things got with the British car industry. I remember when I had a Landy in the 80's and it was the same with their predecessors Unipart. Only difference now is the cost in relative terms is cheaper.

What is the best of the part brands nowadays? I get good impressions from bearmach being the ones at shows and showing human faces

TRW bought the lucas brand and make some good parts.
Fit relays to your headlights to take the load off the light switch and column switch.

Plus One for the relays or you will be lucky to get a year out of the switches.
