Break shoe fitting

Evening all, just rebuilding the brakes on the series 3 (apologies if this has been covered in lots of other threads I did have a quick look) I am confident with lower spring, retaining plate and which is the leading shoe etc, however I would like to double check the top spring location does it stretch from the post on the backing plate to the peg on the back of the leading shoe or does it locate in one of the holes?

Thanks James, looks like it locates behind the snail cam and onto the pin on the shoe?

Shouldn't there be some lock tab type double ended washers on the bolts on the back plate?

on some now the flange bolt has a serrated underside which does the locking rather than the tab with a std bolt

I bought some new brake drums from Paddocks and they are nice looking rough finished metal i am assuming they will need painted or should they be left bare?

id paint them
