Break Line Cleaning & Protection

All, seen lots of ways of cleaning and protecting the breaks lines.
Got an MOT shortly and want to clean the surface rust off, was just going to wire brush them and use tinners
but not sure what to protect them with afterwards.

Suggestions welcome.

Just change them as you don't take chances with brakes.

Common practice to sand light rust off and coat in copper grease. If it's any more than superficial just replace them as said

Didn't they fit copper or copper-nickle pipes as replacements?

Assuming they’re steel, rub them with emery cloth and inspect closely. If the rust is pitting in, replace. If not, coat with some of this:

I always keep a tin in the workshop for pre-mot touch ups.

mot testers seem to note on advisories list these days of pipes coated in grease

Got under and hand a look whilst I was stone chipping the chassis, would appear as I thought, the lines are replacements about 24 months old, they are both copper with uniform green oxidisation on them front to back so have left alone.
MOT is Friday so will see what happens.
