Hi I have a quick question

I'll be taking the car in for a service anyway but was curious to see if this is normal.

If I put the brakes on then let my foot up half way then apply the brakes again the peddle goes hard. Any thoughts what might cause this? The disks on the front look reasonably warn but I don't know if they are over warn, they are not flush with the metal rim around them. I was thinking it might be air in the brake lines?

There should not be a metal rim around your discs. They should be flat all the way to the edge. Time to change them i think. Sounds like you may have a little air in system.

sounds perfectly normal to me, every car i have had firms up on the second pump. your disc is worn but there is a minimum thickness it can wear to. you need to measure the disc thickness and then compare to the manual specs, just because it has a lip on the outside edge does not mean it's fooked.

All discs will get a lip on the edge over time, it's normal. If the pads are getting low, then perhaps it could be a good time to have new discs and pads.

Regarding the brake pedal, mine was exactly the same until I renewed the brake fluid and bled all the brakes.

It will just be old fluid.

I was suprised just how good the brakes were after a fluid change.

By the way, you don't need any pressure kit to bleed the system correctly, the good old fashoned, 2 man way works a treat. But the engine must be running to bleed the system.
