HI,

I have a 2014 Puma 110, every now and then the brake warning light comes on on the dash, usually going down hill under strong braking.

Its getting more regular and now on less intense inclines, looking in the fluid resevour the front chamber is lower than the back. I've looked for leaks but cant see anything, brake fluid isnt the sort of thing that the vehicle consumes though....

So any advise as to where to look for a leak. Is this common? I've checked the piped from caliper to flexable pipe, and back up. but cant see anything....

Thanks
Rob

As your brake pads wear down the brake caliper pistons are pushed out further to keep the pads against the discs, this causes the brake fluid level to drop, if you are sure there are no leaks in the system it may be just this that has caused the drop in master cylinder level. Add a little brake fluid but not to max level and monitor it to ensure there are no leaks. Check your brake pads for wear, they may be quite worn and a good check of all pipes, unions, master cylinder and brake calipers for any sign of leaks.
I have had a low level on my defender master cylinder which was just down to pad wear. Changing pads and pushing the pistons back to get new pads in brought level back up in master cylinder.

will do, the rear pads were done recently which might tie up. i could've sworn i had the front discs and pads done last august but my mind is going so it could've just been the rears.....

EDIT:

yup it was the front discs and pads that were done in august last year i just checked my previous invoices.....
