Brake Shoe Adjuster Kit - any good?

Hi all -
Having got a load of help trying to get my brakes sorted in my last post (https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-ro...aster-cylinder-adjustment-please-help.340288/) I'm now turning to the experts again for more help!
Longish story short, having adjusted and tinkered I now find that one of the nearside front brake adjusters is knackered. The snail cam is shot and it no longer does the job.
So I was thinking about using a Brake Shoe Adjuster kit to replace it (and maybe others while i'm at it).
Question is... are they any good? Do they work and if so are some better than others? Any advice from those of you who might have used them would be much appreciated before I go ahead and buy / fit.

(P.s. if it makes a difference I have a 1981 LWB Series 3 2 ¼ petrol)

Yes they do work but probably need a bit af fettling, Havn't found one make any better than the others, probably all come from the same place...ie China.. anyway.
Just done one on my 109, test fit the cam to the shaft before you fit it to make sure it will slide on when you tighten the bolt up. (Oh and keep the inner spacer as thats not in the kit). Then you will put it back together only to find the head of the bolt sits too proud and stops the shoe sitting properly....... then grind off 2/3 of the bolt head with a grinder and it should all go together ok. Then you can spend the rest of the week trying to bleed the sodding system.

My 110 with rear drums came with no cams fitted at all when i bought it.....what a plonker the previous owner was!!

I'm not surprised by this. When I had to do my brakes on my series 3 for the first time, the adjusters were rusted to buggery so I ordered a new set. They come as a collection of separate bits that for the life of me, couldn't work out how it fitted together.

Thanks - sounds like worth trying then at least and then as you say the joys of bleeding the system (again!) Cheers

Same here. Mine came as part of a brake overhaul kit. loads of bits and bobs and no diagram how they go together. Luckily, I was able to free off the originals with only slight damage to one head, so the new ones are "in stock" for future use. It would be nice to know how they go together though, in case I should need to use them.

I looked at Paddocks to see if they had a set and they have 'fitting instructions' on the site too - attached them here for ya

Just had a look at that, I reckon if you put all those washers on you'll have to grind off even more of the bolt head

Many thanks. I'm hoping I won't ever need them but at least I now know how they go together.
