Brake Rattle.

Hi All.
Of late my Freelander has developed rattling front brakes. Thought it might be the brake guide shims have replaced them but still there. If you put your foot on the brake whilst driving the rattling disappears. Do you think this is wear in the brake calipers? What do i have to replace the brake calipers or the brake carriers as well?

Wear of the calipers is extremely unlikely. Normally the calipers rust under the shims, gripping the pads solidly. The guide pins can on occasion get loose in the caliper but as to weather you'd hear a rattle, I'm unconvinced.
I'd be looking at the ARB drop links first.

I assumed those would have been checked already. But yes a very valid point

Or worn wheel bearings pushing the pads back a tad too far
