Just contemplating which of the many things needing doing I'm going to do at weekend..... Weather permitting

Might tackle the brakes......... My pedal seems to have a lot of travel.... It's very spongy and seems to have a kind of on off effect in time with the rotation of the wheels. May be a warped disc?? Hand brake is also Crap

Fluid level is fine and no visible leaks.

Could the long travel just be a case of needing a good bleed??

Chris

The long travel is likely due to disc run out, especially if the pedal pulses too. Before condemning the discs, it's well worth removing them and cleaning the rust off the hub and disc mounting face. Rust building up between the disc/ hub will cause disc run out.

Seeing as your handbrake is crap its got to be worth having a look at the rear drum brakes? Are you having to pull the handbrake up fully yet its struggling to hold? If so then its likely your self adjusters aint adjusting which would also explain the long brake pedal travel. Could be worth bleeding and changing fluid if its not been done for a while but doesnt sound like its the source of your immediate problem due to the handbrake issue.

Thanks Musky

Yes handbrake all the way up and won't quite hold car. Fliud I'd less than 12 months old

I'll put the rear drums at the top of the list

Cheers. Chris
