hello again good gents
the driver side brake pad carrier is touching the disk/rotor and it had grooved it,the pads are 3 months old and have plenty left on them, what could cause the carrier to touch the disk and mark it?it is only in the driver side though.i have noticed that the carrier edge is very very close to the disk on all of the wheels, but only the front driver side has fooked the disk.

You may find that your brake caliper isn't working as it should. Old calipers can get bunged up with dirt etc, especailly if their seals have gone. This stops them opening fully after brakes have been applied and effectively means you are driving everywhere with your brakes on which is bad for a) your brakes and b) fuel economy.

This happened to my L322. I changed the whole caliper, but you can get new seals and pistons to do your own if you are mechanically minded enough.

Of course your problem could be something else altogether and I'm sure other people will have ideas, but this sounds to me like something it could be.

Does the caliper pivot? If so it's a common problem. Remove the caliper, check all the pistons move and grease the pivots.

On the disco, it is common for the pads to wear thru the caliper and then move towards the hub. This could cause the caliper to tilt. Again, not sure on the L322.

cheers friend
yesssss the caliper pivot,if u catch it with ur hands and shake it it will move in and out on the 4 sides.

just replaced my front disks and calipers for the very same problem.... your pistons are sticking out.... change the caliper

yep what he said.... guide pins/ pistons might be seized/sticking.
