hi

as u know im about to start replacing all my brake lines and wish to get things lined up the best i can

checked the brake nipples and all four are chewed up so went down my local stealers and they want nearly £5.00 each,

going to get them off ebay , i think the part number is RTC1115 and should be 10mm x 1mm

can someone just verify that for me please

robbing **** bags, as i can buy 4 x for a fiver on eBay from bearmach

plus i noticed the brake lines under the bonnet are going to be real sods to do

thks guys and apologies for asking

gary

they are the ones I am sure as I did enquire for my old one and our local car shop they are £1.25 each so 4 for a £5 is the same but are you paying postage

hi

thks mate and like a complete numbnuts i realised there is a southern motor factors down the road and will pop into there

blimey the old grey matter is going, lolol

thinking how many couplings i will need cause them brake lines under the binnet ant going to be easy, have no probs bending the pipe being a former plumbing heating guy but by god i like a challange, lolol

plus also bought 5 x litres of brake fluid so i can bleed out all the old stuff and a easy bleed system where i put it on the tyre

sounds sad but looking forward doing this as once james cuts out the old pipe i can sit on a chair and bend the new pipe up

thks again

Sounds like you nearly sorted and ready to start. You won't need anything like 5 liters of fluid though! I use around 0.25 -0.5 liters a corner ;)

:behindsofa:

Yep..M10 X 1.00mm pitch for the nipples.
Cut the pipes where you can remove the part easily from above for replacement and flaring and will have access underneath to tighten the nuts on the connectors.
Buying brake fluid a gallon at a time works out cheaper than buying individual 1 litre bottles and you will have a fair bit left over-enough to replace the brake fluid in 2-3 years time.

TIP
If you find it difficult to bleed the brakes fully, it may be down to air being drawn in past the threads on one or more bleed nipples. I had this problem a few months ago after I fitted new rear wheel cylinders. Wrap a few turns of PTFE tape round the threads on the nipples, do NOT put any on the cone end. You do not need to remove it afterwards and it will also help stop the nipples seizing due to corrosion caused by steel threads in Aluminium (Electrolytic reaction).
Good Luck:smokin:

That's a good tip from irishrover. I found I had the same problem on rears and had to undo the nipple only a bit and push them in to stop air seeping. Will ptfe tape it next time.

thks guys for the great tips and well worth saving me alot of grief

just got to get a few more bits and should be set

really appreciate all the great help with this

in my heating days also used the liquid ptfe

or something boring ptfe stands for polytetrafloraethalyne, sad how i remembered that , lolol , or even sadder whats the difference between pipe and tube, ????????

but a great tip , thks
