Can anyone suggest an easy way to stop brake fluid leaking from around the resevoir mounting seals??

The fecking thing didn't leak before I did an overhaul of the master cylinder, now I can't stop it leaking. And putting the old seal back in doesn't stop it.

Would wrapping PTFE tape around the pipe on the bottom of the resevoir to make it fit tighter and expand the seal in it's hole be the best approach? (And be ok with brake fluid?)

where'd the new seal come from ?

It was part of a refurb kit.

And (expecting lots of abuse) yep it was Britpart, but one seal works ok, while the other weeps fluid.
I scrapad loads of crap from the hole that now leaks, so I suspect it's more likely to be slightly loose in the hole rather than the seal it's self.

Dont bodge a fix on your breaks PTFE tape is not made to work under the pressure your break system will load it too. You already know stopping is more important starting.

It should only be gravity pressure at this seal, it's on the feed into the master cylinder. If I had high pressure here I'd be really worried.

Any where else in the brake system I would never dream of using PTFE or any other 'fix', it would be replace/renew.:)

how about welding a fillet around the seat and reaming it out to the right size, as it sounds as if you've now made it over sized - least that way you'll be able to buy a standard seal in future

A couple of minor problems with this, first is I can't weld, and secound I don't have the facilities to do the reaming.:D

Other wise, a very good idea.
