It's no good wondering why you've just crashed off the road, or worse, because your "damaged" brake pipe let go at a crucial moment. You'd be surprised at the pressure generated in the hydraulic pipe when you step on the pedal.
What price safety? You're not talking hundreds of pounds to do it properly. Get a flaring kit for about £25 and some pipe and do it yourself. The upside is that when you need to do the other pipes you've already got the kit. Charge you mates beer tokens to do theirs and you're quids in before to long. Its how most of us have acquired our toolkits over the years.
